Wunder: Decoupled stack with Next.js

In our quest to use the right tool for the job we have discovered a flexible tech stack that that brings the best solution for many big complex projects at Wunder. This stack brings together Drupal, ElasticSearch and Next.js. A sweet combination that has many benefits, we would like to introduce and also the hard problems we encountered on our decoupled projects.

Decoupling Drupal and using it as a headless CMS, is a challenge, you are throwing away many good Drupal features that works out-of-the-monolith and reimplementing them with Next.js is a challenge. Flexibility comes with a price, and trade offs will be explained.

The focus of the presentation will highlight Next.js and the features they have introduced recently, including i18n (internationalization), advanced routing, and SSR.
